We've started the process of planning for spring by working on several habitat projects. One easy and fun one to complete is wood duck boxes. Wood ducks are beautiful birds that nest around wetlands, marshes and rivers. They are specific nesters that require a hollow opening or cavity that is at least two feet off the ground. During the springtime, wood ducks will lay between 6-16 eggs.
After roughly 30 days the eggs hatch and the young wood ducks jump out of the cavity to begin their new journey as adults!
